A Walk Back Memory Lane...February (Ankara Love)

I returned from Ghana at the end of January just in time to begin the new school year, so I hit the ground running. I had no time to recover from the jet lag, but oh well...the count down has begun for the next trip this December :-)
My outfits for February featured some of the ankara items I picked up in Ghana, and also my custom made ankara outfits that my seamstress hooked me up with. She always does an AMAZING job, and she certainly didn't disappoint this time either!!

Ankara fabrics I picked up from Da Viva, Woodin and Makola

The first look featured one of my favourite pieces...this vibrant high waisted ankara midi skirt. I absolutely love the colors and the "Duafe" (adinkra) symbol that is all through it. I paired it up with some ankara bangles that I also got in Ghana, and a necklace sent to me by Statement Girl.

The second look featured this cute white dress, with the 'V back' detail which I picked up from Oz Jeans before my trip. I actually packed it and took it to Ghana, but I never got a chance to wear it. So I decided to rock it when I got back, with this bold, teal colored belt with the gold buckle, and my fabulous ankara clutch which I bought in Osu, Ghana. Once again injected some color with my fuschia peep-toe platforms.

Love the low backs!

I have major love for peplums, so when I asked my seamstress to make my ankara pieces, I had to have some peplums in the mix. So the third look featured my bold, bright ankara peplum top, which I rocked with my favourite belt, purchased on ebay, and my Steve Madden shoes, which I purchased over 6 years ago, when I was managing the Steve Madden store in the Brisbane Myer department store.

The final look was inspired by Stella Jeans Spring/Summer 2013 Collection. I love the print on print theme that runs throughout this collection and also the use of head wraps and turbans.
So I incorporated a head wrap into my look, but kept my actual outfit fairly simple with a neutral oversized shirt, which I paired up with my 'wet-look' leggings and a plain black belt to accentuate my waist. For my shoes I went for my lime green wedges, which complemented my fab ankara bag which I purchased from Sa4a in Ghana! I absolutely love this bag and how it incorporates leather with the ankara print!
