I'm so in love with this look I put together this week. The dress is a very old one that I've had for many year, but paired up with the solid gold plated belt and this fabulous beaded statement necklace, it was brought to life! Adding a red lip and rocking my natural hair again, I truly felt like a modern day African Queen!
So this outfit here was simply me re-styling one of my favourite ankara skirts, which my seamstress made for me in Ghana on my last trip.
The print is so fun and vibrant, so I decided to pair it with this taupe and pastel blue, collared, open back, sleeveless shirt. I've been wanting to style this shirt for about a year now, but everytime I picked it up and tried to pair it with something, I'd give up! I didn't like how it looked with pants, but it was too short to wear as a shirt dress.
But it worked perfectly with this skirt, because once I tucked it in, it hid all the excess fabric of the shirt underneath the skirt. I added this thick black belt with the gold hardware in the middle to break up the two pieces and also cinch in my waist, and I paired it up with these open toe taupe and snakeskin heels. For my accessories I decided on my gold collar necklace, my HTW beads and a small black purse. MACs 'Girl About Town' added the perfect pop of color on my lips!
Hope you have all been well! I've been sick with the flu again (smh), so I've just been resting these last few days. Anyway, I wore this outfit a few weeks ago on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I went with my parents to watch my younger brother perform at the Queensland Conservatorium. He was selected to join 760 other students (from 1400 that were nominated), to represent his school and play in The Graham Lloyd Wind Ensemble as part of the State Honours Ensemble Program.
So onto the outfit...I went for a casual and comfortable look by pairing my Old Navy skinny jeans with this awesome cobalt blue print flowy top. Once again, my accessories were very minimal with just my Diva watch, a cobalt blue and gold cuff bangle, and my cobalt blue perspex clutch. I threw on my Tony Bianco gold capped heels and my ASOS shades.
Also, as you can see, I'm back to rocking my natural hair. The braids were cool and I enjoyed having them, but I am happy to have the weight of them gone and feel free again. lol
